My answer is” absolutely.”  Once a person understands the experiences and journey of another individual this knowledge helps with the realization/awareness regarding their behavior and feelings they have towards them.

That individual has the ability to understand how they may be paying for a traumatic experience of the caretaker.  I have observed that once empathy is learned and applied to their given situation there is an instant shift in previous beliefs and perceptions of oneself.
